On July 4, 1776, the historic day of signing the Declaration of Independence took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during the American Revolutionary War. Delegates from the thirteen American colonies, representing a united front against British rule, gathered at the Continental Congress to finalize the document. The declaration, primarily authored by Thomas Jefferson, boldly proclaimed the colonies' independence from British tyranny and asserted their inherent rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Amidst a charged atmosphere and the backdrop of uncertainty and tension, the delegates, including John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and John Hancock, solemnly signed the parchment. This act symbolized their commitment to the revolutionary cause, knowing it could lead to war with the British Empire. The signing ceremony marked the culmination of months of intense debates and deliberations, where the delegates faced immense pressure to forge a unified front.
This month’s design features the bald eagle, a symbol of the freedom those who signed the declaration were seeking. It’s paired with a golden patriot logo, a nod to the shade of parchment the document itself is written on.
We hope it will serve as a reminder of the importance of presenting a unified front.
